A horrifying case has come to light from Assam’s Biswanath district where two minor tribal girls were gangraped, filmed and later blackmailed. The shocking incident took place at Helem area in Biswanath district.
Police have arrested five suspected persons in connection with the incident.
According to reports, one of the accused persons identified as Pranabjyoti Patgiri introduced himself as a journalist and lured the two girls to a house, which was located at an isolated place in Helem area.
Patgiri allegedly gangraped the minor girls along with some of his friends. The accused persons had also allegedly filmed the entire incident that occurred a few days ago.
Later, the culprits blackmailed the minor girls and forced them to enter flesh trade.
On Saturday, the girls shared the entire incident with their family members and lodged an FIR at Helem police station.
On Sunday, Biswanath district police launched an operation in different locations of Helem area and arrested five persons for their alleged involvement in the incident.
Biswanath district Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajen Singh said the department has so far arrested five persons.
“A case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Following the FIR lodged by the family members of the two victims, police have so far arrested five persons. Our investigation is going on,” Singh said.
“We will take stern action against the persons as per law.”
The arrested persons were identified as Pranabjyoti Patgiri, Sonu Agarwal, Sanjib Phukan, Deepak Gurung and Rakesh Payeng.
