JioFiber, formerly known as Jio GigaFiber, is set to become commercially available from Thursday, September 5. Reliance Jio officially launched the JioFiber broadband service at its AGM earlier this month. Since last year’s AGM, the company has been providing a Jio GigaFiber preview offer in select cities in India with a security deposit of Rs 2,500. It is now being reported that the customers who took the preview offer will not have to pay for the Jio Fiber service for two months following its launch on September 5.

According to a report by the Times of India, Reliance Jio will offer JioFiber services for free for a minimum of two months to customers who have subscribed to the JioFiber preview offer. This will come into effect post the commercial launch of JioFiber on September 5. Additionally, customers will be able to take the Rs 2,500 refund amount that was paid for security deposit at any time.

Right now, all we know is that the JioFiber plans will cost between Rs 700 to Rs 10,000 per month, but the company is yet to reveal the exact list of plans and prices. JioFiber plans will include free voice calls and data speeds starting at 100Mbps going all the way up to 1Gbps. Reliance Jio also announced a JioFiber Welcome offer under which customers can get a free HD or 4K TV alongside a 4K set-top-box. This offer will only be available for users who opt for the annual Jio Forever plans.

Following the commercial rollout of JioFiber on September 5, Reliance Jio will reportedly charge Rs 1,500 security deposit that is refundable and an addition Rs 1,000 installation charges that is non-refundable. The company will reveal the exact prices for its Jio Fiber plans on September 5, which is also when we will likely know whether this 2-month free services for preview subscribers is true or not.
