A 23-year-old teacher S Ramya was hacked to death in a classroom of a private school in Cuddalore district.
She was killed by a man named Rajasekhaar, whom she knew previously.
According to police, Ramya knew Rajasekhaar from her college days.
Initial investigation revealed that Ramya’s parents had refused a proposal of marriage by Rajasekhaar six months ago, and speculated that it could be the reason for the attack.
Rajasekhaar is yet to be arrested and police are on the lookout for him.
Ramya used to teach mathematics to class 5 students in Gayathri matriculation school. Ramya used to go to the school quite early since she stayed close by.
The attack took place on Friday morning at 8 am when she was in one of the classrooms at the ground floor of the school.
Police officers said that an argument broke out between the couple before Rajasekhaar killed her.
Rajasekhar hails from the same town and police are also investigating his family.
