In a move that should help income tax payers looking to generate permanent account numbers, the income tax department on 29th June launched a new solution to benefit from instant e-PAN. Those who do not have PAN cards can now benefit from the real-time e-PAN feature for free using the Aadhaar card. It is valid for a limited period of time on a first-come, first-served basis for valid Aadhaar holders. An applicant does not need to submit documents for using the facility.
Candidates who already have a PAN should not ask for e-PAN.
The e-PAN facility is restricted to residents (except minors and other persons covered by the Income Tax Act 1961) and not to HUF, corporations, trusts and corporations, etc.
